Hello All 4 One Home friends!
I hope you are all enjoying these long days of summer! Here at All 4 One Home, we’ve been very busy doing projects around the house, growing our garden, and adjusting to our new fulltime residences (our 6 chickens). Now with the longer days and warmer temperatures I’ve been craving a refreshing beverage that will quench my thirst and give me a boost of energy at the same time. Lemonade is always a summertime favorite, so I decided to give it a healthy twist.
In this recipe, I incorporated some extra beneficial ingredients like fresh ginger, turmeric, and cayenne pepper. Because I’m watching my sugar intake, I have replaced refined sugar with monk fruit sweetener. I have also included a list of other alternatives for sugar that are healthier for you as well. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised by the flavor of this lemonade; the subtle unexpected zip from the ginger and the cayenne pepper will make your tastebuds sing. I hope you’ll give it a try and let me know your thoughts!
Ingredients:
1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice about 6 lemons (Meyer lemons if in season)
1/2 cup monk fruit sweetener/agave nectar/coconut sugar/swerve/honey (combine with 1 cup of warm water to make a simple syrup)
1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
Pinch or two of cayenne pepper
6 cups of water + the 1 cup of simple syrup
Combine the above ingredients and serve over ice.
Enjoy!
