The Journey Continues

The Journey Continues

It’s hard for me to believe the last time I wrote was May 2017.  If you’ve had the opportunity to read my post in May, Enjoying The Seasons you already know we have relocated to Northeast Ohio from Boca Raton, FL. Once we arrived at our new home we were nonstop with unpacking, remodeling, exploring, and learning all about the great state of Ohio.

Our summer was filled with adventures and new experiences. One night while enjoying our first family bonfire and roasting marshmallows, we noticed not only were the stars twinkling bright but so were the trees. It looked as if someone had strung thousands of twinkle lights all over the trees, the shrubs, and the grass. It was at that moment we realized we were surrounded by fireflies.  Something my children have never experienced before, and to see the amazement on their faces was priceless. We soon learned, as soon as the sun starts to set you will begin to see them glowing on the grass and then start to work their way up to the trees. The last time I saw fireflies I was a little girl camping with my family at Hat Creek, California.  I remember only seeing a few at that time and I will never forget the joy it gave me, and I’m thrilled to know this will be something to look forward to every summer!

The first adventure we took was to Niagra Falls on the US side and the Canadian side. It is truly a natural wonder and a must-see if you haven’t experienced it!  This photo was taken on the Canadian side while riding the Ferris wheel looking back on the United States.

Experiencing Lake Erie for the first time was a sight to see as well! It’s amazing how large the lake is, and our family likes to joke and call it our local “L-ocean” a lake as big as an ocean. This picture was taken at Geneva on the Lake.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland is another must-see if you are a music fan. The museum gives you a great deal of information on the history of Rock & Roll and with the frequent changing of featured exhibits, there is always something new for you to enjoy and see. “Long Live Rock!”

The Ohio Caverns, known as “America’s most colorful caverns” is 3 miles of underground caves that were discovered on a local soybean farmer’s land in West Liberty, about 30 miles outside of Dayton.  They offer two tours and I highly recommend going on both. A great experience for all ages.

Fall! Oh, Autumn in the Midwest is an absolute dream! The colors are so intense and vibrant for as far as the eye can see.  It had been several years since we experience fall and Ohio did not disappoint!

Currently, we are wrapping up our first Winter here in Chardon and we seem to have survived a pretty heavy winter.  When we first moved here the locals would ask, “Where did you move from? Florida? You do realize you moved to the snow capital of Ohio?” And yes, we now realize it and it was the most epic winter our family has ever experienced!

Our children learned how to snowboard in our backyard, dig out large snow forts, build huge snowmen, make blissful snow angels and experience the excitement of “snow days” when the schools close due to weather conditions.  Now they ask if it’s going to snow every day, crossing their fingers for more “snow days”!

Sometimes transitions can be difficult to adjust to, and sometimes life’s biggest adventures will be awaiting you once you take that first step. You never know what lies ahead of you if don’t have faith. Trust in your instincts and in God, embrace the love and support of your family and friends, and most of all enjoy the ride!

Many blessings to you and thank you for reading All 4 One Home!
