DYI Fabric Coasters
Hi Friends! Today I’m sharing an easy beginner level sewing project that you can make from your left over scraps of fabric. Not only are these fabric coasters pretty, but they are extremely functional too! Because they are made from clothe they will absorb the condensation that drips from the glass while protecting your furniture. If they get dirty you can place them in a mesh laundry bag, wash, line dry and iron. The design possibilities are endless when it comes to these coasters. You can create different designs for all of your holiday decor and party events.
Sewing Machine, Fabric Scraps, Coordinating Thread, Fabric Pins, Scissors, Iron and Ironing Board
Cut your fabric scraps into 5″x5″ squares and iron smooth. On these coasters I used a contrasting fabric for the back.
Place right sides facing, pin and sew a 1/4″ seam allowance leaving a 2″ opening on one side.
Clip the corners, and tuck the coaster right-side out (be sure to use a sharp object to push the corners out); turn the open edge inside and press.
Topstitch all around the perimeter of the coaster 1/8″ from the edges.
Press one more time for the final crisp look.
I’m truly thrilled with these little coasters and I think these are going to make amazing gifts this year!
